Photo competitions can be a great way to build up my credibility as a photographer. The only catch is I need to place or win in order to get any recognition. Currently I am in the midst of entering several competitions, one of them is with the Nation Professional Photographers of Canada. I’m going to be using a photo i took of a Canadian soldier on an exercise. I took it back in the fall. Of course to make it compliant for the NPPC it will be in color and the crop will be different.
Along with photo contests I have also been working on some business portraits for the owner of a Warrior Muay Thai in North York. It was a fun shoot, I spent the entire morning at the gym. The day started with a small class of their advanced level fighters. They were working on perfecting several movements, because of this they were working at half speed in the ring. Due to their reduced pace for training I was able to get some nice shoots (They will be coming soon!). After that class ended they had a kids class and finally I had a one on one session with the owner, a man by the name of Zubair. I was very impressed by how he taught and the discipline of his fighters and staff. If I wasn’t so loaded down with work currently I would gladly sign up for lessons at his gym. Hopefully in the near future. (Image below is still a work in progress)
This week should be interesting, I’m going to be doing some video work and some interior photography. In the next week or two i plan on getting a website with a full portfolio up.
I’ll keep you all posted!
